A discussion, blood donation programme and a medical camp were organised, marking the anniversary of the July uprising, in Kushtia on Monday.

Kushtia Civil Surgeon Office and Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital jointly organised the discussion at the conference room of the hospital.


Presided over by Kushtia civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Kushtia deputy commissioner Taufiqur Rahman was present as chief guest while police superintendent of the district Md Mizanur Rahman and 250-bed General Hospital superintendent Md Abdul Mannan spoke as special guests at the discussion. Taufiqur Rahman said that measures should be taken against the brokers in the hospital.

He also mentioned that the hospital should be kept away from representatives of pharmaceutical companies. ‘I know it is difficult because the representatives give gifts to doctors. It has also been seen that they go to doctors’ houses and give bribes.’ Moderated by Dr Nasrin Akhter, RMO of 250-bed General Hospital Dr Hossain Imam, nayeb-e-amir of Kushtia district Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Abdul Gafur, assistant secretary Khairul Islam Robin, nurses, doctors, political leaders were present at the discussion.

Earlier, Kushtia Civil Surgeon’s Office and 250-bed General Hospital inaugurated the blood donation programme and medical camp at the hospital.
