
Mohammad Wahid Hasan, senior secretary and chairman of the Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council, said at a symposium in Chattogram on Wednesday that the country’s development activities could not be moved forward without research.
‘A country moves forward through research. The country’s development activities cannot be moved forward without research,’ he said while addressing as chief guest at the symposium titled Innovation Power Infrastructure: Advancing Clean Affordable Energy for Bangladesh Future, said a press release.
The department of electrical and electronic engineering of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology and the BEPRC jointly organised the symposium at the Central Auditorium of CUET.
‘There are many problems in our country and research is needed to solve these problems. Research should be used to identify every problem in the country and effectively solve it. Therefore, everyone should be aware and committed to ensuring that the results of our research play an effective role in the development and welfare of the country,’ he mentioned.
The special guests and keynote speakers were CUET’s vice-chancellor Professor Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, additional secretary and member of BEPRC Md Rafiqul Islam and dean of the faculty of electrical and computer engineering Professor Kazi Delair Hossain.
Professor Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan said, ‘Clean energy is considered essential, timely and reliable energy globally to combat climate change and achieve sustainable development goals.’
‘Renewable energy as clean energy has emerged as a ray of hope. Renewable energy is the key to equitable, environmentally friendly and sustainable development,’ he added.
The keynote speakers were Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology EEE department Professor Md Raju Ahmed and the speaker was Hasan Mahmud, director of the BEPRC.
Chaired by Professor Tofail Ahmed, head of the department of electrical and electronic Engineering, the symposium was moderated by Professor Rashed Md Murad Hasan, department of EEE.
