An individual, claiming himself to be the chief of ‘Bangabandhu Guerrilla Bahini’, has recently threatened the Kotalipara police station officer-in-charge, warning him of dire consequences regarding law enforcers’ action in Gopalganj following the July 16 violence over the National Citizen Party rally there.
The OC, Abul Kalam Azad, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Monday that he was threatened by the individual over the phone on July 17, a day after the series of clashes between the members of law enforcement agencies and activists of the Awami League, activities of which were earlier banned by the interim government.
At least five people were killed and scores were injured during the violence in the Gopalganj district town.
A video clipping of the telephonic conversation went viral on social media.
Claiming himself as the chief of ‘Bangabandhu Guerrilla Bahini’, the individual accused the OC of shooting an Awami League activist during the clashes.
The individual demanded to know whether the OC did that on government order and threatened him with dire consequences by saying, ‘Remember, it is Gopalganj….Everyone has a family.’
Azad told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that actions were underway to identify the individual who claimed to be the chief of the so-called organisation.
