
A delegation led by the president of Bangladesh Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Association and chairman of Bangladesh Unani Medical Association Hakim Md Yusuf Harun Bhuiyan met with the health and family welfare adviser Nurjahan Begum to highlight the long-standing problems and crises of the unani ayurvedic herbal and homeopathic sector and seek immediate solutions.
Chairman of Bangladesh Board of Unani Ayurvedic Systems of Medicine, health ministry joint secretary Mallika Khatun was also present at the meeting, said a press release on Friday.
General secretary of BAMMA Mizanur Rahman, Hakim Habibur Rahman Unani Medical College Principal AK Mahbubur Rahman Saki, Hamdard Bangladesh director for information and public relations Amirul Mominin Manik, Hamdard Foundation Bangladesh director Mahbub Anwar and Hamdard Bangladesh legal adviser Mohammad Kawsar were present as member of the delegation.
Yusuf Harun Bhuiyan presented 12-point demands, including the formation of an independent council for alternative medicine, highlighting the rationale for reinstating unani ayurvedic faculties in private universities.
Nurjahan Begum said that the interim government was working sincerely to solve the problems of the unani ayurvedic herbal and homeopathic sectors. ‘It will take other positive steps, including the formation of a council to resolve the crises in this sector very soon.’
