A Higher Secondary Certificate examinee was allegedly stabbed and mugged by muggers on Green Road in Dhaka early Thursday, shortly after arriving from Bandarban.

The victim, Rina Tripura, 20, travelled from her hometown to Dhaka to retake an examination scheduled for July 7, her brother Jewel Tripura said.


She had travelled overnight by bus from Thanchi of Bandarban. She was attacked in front of the student hostel of Meherunnisa School and College, where she resides, he said.

‘After reaching Kalabagan in the morning, she hired a rickshaw to return to her hostel on Green Road. As she arrived at the gate around dawn, a group of three to four muggers intercepted the rickshaw, stabbed her and fled with two bags containing important belongings and documents,’ Jewel said.

Kalabagan police station officer-in-charge Md Fazle Ashiq said that the victim was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

‘No case has been filed yet in this regard. We have asked the victim’s relatives to file a case regarding the incident and we would take action accordingly,’ the OC added.

Meanwhile, the police was working to apprehend the attackers, added the police official.
