
A 36-member national committee has been formed to celebrate the student-people uprising days in July-August.
Chief adviser Muhammad Yunus will serve as chairman of the committee, according to a statement issued by the CA press wing on Wednesday.
Besides, Liberation War affairs and disaster management and relief adviser Faruk-e-Azam will act as vice-chairman of the committee and cultural affairs adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki will serve as the programme coordinator while other advisers of the interim government will act as members.
Other members of the committee are vice-chairman of the National Consensus Commission Professor Ali Riaz, its members Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, Safar Raj Hossain, Badiul Alam Majumder, Justice Emdadul Haque and Iftekharuzzaman, cabinet secretary or principal secretary, army chief, navy chief, air chief, public administration ministry senior secretary, finance ministry’s secretary for finance division and foreign secretary.
The 36-day event will be celebrated from July 1 to August 5 to mark the anniversary of the July uprising.
The programme will begin on July 1 with prayers and supplications in memory of the martyrs at mosques, temples, pagodas, churches and other religious places.
