Three people were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a covered van on Chattogram-Cox鈥檚 Bazar Highway in Ramu upazila of Cox鈥檚 Bazar district on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Habib Ullah, his son Gias Uddin of Cox鈥檚 Bazar Sadar upazila and Rimjhim Barua of Ramu upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Ramu Highway Police Station Nasir Uddin said that the Chattogram-bound bus of Purobi Paribahn and Cox鈥檚 Bazar-bound covered van collided with each other when those reached Rashid Nagar area at about 8:00am, leaving the trio dead and seven others injured.
The injured were admitted to Ramu Upazila Health Complex.
The bus plunged into a roadside ditch and the covered van got stuck with a roadside tree during the collision, said the OC.
The drivers of the vehicles managed to flee.
The vehicles were seized and legal action would be taken accordingly, he added.
