A group of doctors under the banner of ‘PSC Reform Movement Doctors’ Council’ on Sunday raised four demands, including increasing the BCS age limit for doctors to 34 years.

The organisation’s spokesperson Abbas Bhuiyan presented their demands at a press conference here.

The demands include issuing a notification to set the BCS age limit for doctors at 34 years by increasing it by two years as before and extending the timeline of the 48th special BCS and holding the exam in the normal process after the 47th BCS, as well as giving at least three-month time from the date of the revised circular.

The demands also include allowing intern doctors to participate in the viva exam of 48th special BCS on the condition of passing the preliminary exam through a temporary BMDC registration card and, considering this, issuing an order from PSC regarding final recommendation for the job. At the same time, considering the internship duration, issuing an order from the Ministry of Public Administration allowing delayed joining.

They also demanded transparency in the recruitment exam, publishing the marks of preliminary, written, and viva exams.

The organisation’s chief organiser Mahfuzul Haque Chowdhury said, ‘Until the 46th BCS, doctors had two extra years for BCS. But in the notification of the 47th BCS, under the name of abolishing the freedom fighter quota, our rightful facility has also been taken away. This is like cutting off the head instead of taking medicine for a headache. This is not a solution.’

He also said, ‘Usually, a minimum of three months is given for BCS preparation. But for the 48th special BCS, only 40 days have been given, which is insufficient for the candidates. So, the timeline must be extended and our other demands must also be accepted.’
