
Due to road accidents and excess traffic on the Jamuna Bridge, a traffic jam of about 17 kilometers was created on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway on Saturday.
This slow-moving traffic congestion was created on the Tangail section of the highway from Jamuna Bridge to Pungli since Saturday morning.
Passengers and drivers are facing huge suffering due to the traffic jam. Police are working at various points on the highway to resolve the traffic jam.
Police said that the pressure of vehicles on the highway started increasing since Friday night.
In addition, an accident occurred on the Jamuna Bridge on early Saturday. This caused disruption to vehicular movement on the bridge and nearby areas.
Jamuna Bridge East Police Station OC Faiz Ahmed told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the road accident on the bridge had caused traffic congestion due to the slow speed of vehicles moving across the bridge throughout the night. We hope that the traffic would become normal soon.’
Mohammad Sharif, in-charge of Elenga Highway Police Outpost, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that there was excessive traffic pressure and traffic jams in the Sirajganj section. Due to which traffic jams also formed in the Tangail section. However, police members are working tirelessly to resolve the traffic jam.
Jamuna Setu West Police Station officer-in-charge Asaduzzaman Asad told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the situation was created due to high traffic pressure on the last day of the Eid holidays.
