University Grants Commission Bangladesh member Professor Masuma Habib said that a research-friendly budget would further advance education and research. This would inspire future generations in agricultural research and newly invented technologies could be applied in the agricultural sector of Bangladesh.

‘Compared to developed countries, our education and research sector budget is very negligible. If it were 6 per cent of the national budget, the education and research sector could be carried out,’ she said while addressing the closing ceremony of the two-day annual research review workshop-2024, organised by the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Research System on Monday, as the chief guest.


SAURES director Professor FM Aminuzzaman delivered the welcome speech and vice-chancellor of the university Professor Md Belal Hossain presided over the event at the university’s administrative building, said a press release. 

The event was moderated by the senior scientific officer of SAURES Md Shafiqul Islam, and SAU treasurer Professor Muhammad Abul Bashar was present as special guest.

Among others, Professor Md Zakir Hossain, dean of the faculty of agribusiness management, Professor Md Jahangir Alam, dean of the faculty of animal science and veterinary medicine, Professor Md Sarwar Hossain, director of planning, development and works, Professor AKM Ruhul Amin, director of finance and accounting, Professor Md Jamilur Rahman, director of ICT, Professor Md Arfan Ali, proctor and teachers from all departments were present.
