A student drowned in a pond of Feni Polytechnic Institute in the district on Thursday.
The deceased was Saiful Islam Raju, a first-year student of Feni Polytechnic Institute for the 2024-25 academic year and resident of Shahrasti in Chandpur.
The institute鈥檚 security officer Rafiqul Islam said that Raju and some other students were taking a bath in the pond after playing on the institute ground. 鈥楽uddenly Raju drowned in the water body.鈥�
Raju was immediately rescued and taken to Feni General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, said M Shamsuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Feni model police station.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Feni General Hospital morgue for postmortem.
