A faction of Bangladesh Udichi Shipligoshthi on Tuesday called their ‘unfinished’ national conference for June 20 at a press conference, while another faction of the organisation said that it was illegal according to their constitution.

The press conference was held at the Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club in the capital Dhaka.

Badiur Rahman who addressed the conference as president of the Udichi by both the factions, called the national conference claiming himself to be the chair of the 23rd national conference convening committee held in February.

After the unfinished conference, more than 250 representatives of the organisation urged them to finish the conference although the two factions declared their committees on the closing day of the conference, said Badiur Rahman.

Another faction of the Udichi alleged that after declaring a committee at the conference Badiur could not reconvene the conference as the chair of the convening committee according to the constitution.

Former general secretary of Udichi, Rezaul Karim Siddique, said at the event that he never endorsed the two committees, but was trying to negotiate with the factions for the unity of the Udichi.

Rahman Mofiz, assistant general secretary of Udichi, said that according to their constitution elected president Badiur Rahman could not use the banner of Udichi as a person and they also condemned the initiative to organise the press conference.
