A Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Saturday placed three people, arrested in a case filed over the killing of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a Dhaka University student and a leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, on a six-day remand.

Metropolitan magistrate Shaheen Reza passed the order when sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station Toufique Hasan and also the investigating officer of the case produced them before the court with 10-day remand prayer for each.


The accused are Tamim Hawladar, Palash Sardar and Samrat Mallik.

Shahriar, a student of the 2018–19 sessions at the Institute of Education and Research and Literary and publication secretary of Chhatra Dal’s AF Rahman Hall unit, was stabbed in an attack at Suhrawardy Udyan near the campus on May 13.

Later, he was taken to the hospital where the doctors on duty declared him dead.

A case was filed against 10-12 people with Shahbagh Police Station.

Police arrested them on Wednesday.
