Two young men were stabbed to death in separate incidents in the capital's Shankar and Jigatala areas on Friday night.
The deceased are Nur Islam, 26, a freelance photographer and a resident of Shankar Bus Stand area, and Samiur Rahman, 23, a student of Dr Maleka University College and a resident of Hazaribagh area.
Confirming the deaths, Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Md Faruk said that the bodies were kept in the hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
Nur Islam鈥檚 brother Usman Gony alleged that muggers stabbed his brother and took his two cameras.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at about 9:30pm, the victim鈥檚 brother said.
In another incident, Samiur and his two friends were attacked by a group of 20 people near Jigatala Bus Stand area, said Samiur鈥檚 aunt Mahi Akhter.
Local people took the injured to Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, she said, adding that later, Samiur was transferred to DMCH where doctors declared him dead at about 9:00pm.
Mahi Akhter said that it was not clear who and why carried out the attack.
