Politicians, academics, education experts and student leaders at a dialogue in Dhaka on Thursday called on the interim government to give adequate allocations in the education sector for the development of the sector.

Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, student front of Ganosamhati Andolan, organised the dialogue on the issue of allocation in the upcoming budget at the National Press Club.


Chaired by Chhatra Federation president Moshiur Rahman Richard, Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki called on the interim government to give more allocation in the education sector for the development of the sector.

He demanded minimum 15 per cent allocation of the development budget in the education sector and also separate pay scale for the teachers.

Chhatra Federation leader Fatema Rahman Bithi readout a draft proposal for reform of the education system at the dialogue, demanding 4 per cent of allocation of GDP in the education sector.

Educationists Shafique Islam, Samio Shish, Hasnat Kabir, Jahangirnagar University teacher Rezwana Karim Snigdha and Tofazzal Hossain, among others, spoke at the dialogue.
