Bangladesh Medical University celebrated International Nurses Day 2025 with various events, including rallies, seminars and cultural programmes, at the university in Dhaka on Monday. 

On the occasion of the day, a rally was taken out from the BMU campus. The rally was inaugurated by BMU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam as chief guest, said a press release. 


The rally was attended by BMU pro-VC for research and development Professor Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader, treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar, director for hospital Brigadier General Abu Noman Mohammad Mosleh Uddin and nurses of the university, among others.

A seminar and a cultural programme were organised at the A Block auditorium of the university.

At the discussion meeting, Professor Shahinul Alam said that the administration of BMU was committed to qualitative change in the development of the nursing profession, including education. ‘If we can ensure qualitative change in the nursing profession, Bangladeshi nurses will spread across the country and the entire world.’

Mentioning that nurses are the hope for alleviating the suffering of patients, he said, ‘Today, the world has opened doors for the nursing profession. For this, we have to develop ourselves as international standard nurses. We have to acquire skills in English language and computer operation.’

He also said that the BMU had taken necessary steps to improve the quality of higher education in nursing.

BMU director for hospital Brigadier General Abu Noman Mohammad Mosleh Uddin, graduate nursing department teacher Md Harun Or Rashid Gazi, among others, spoke at the seminar.
