A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Friday placed a female student on three-day remand in a case filed on charges of killing Primeasia University student Jahidul Islam Parvez in the capital鈥檚 Banani area on April 19.
The accused is Faria Haque Tina, a student of the English department at the University of Scholars.
Metropolitan magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order after police produced her before the court seeking five-day remand for her for interrogation.
With this, five accused in the murder case were placed on remand while two other accused gave confessional statements before the court.
Banani police officer-in-charge Md Rasel Sarowar said that Tina was arrested in Vatara鈥檚 Norda area at about 10:00pm on Thursday.
The police were yet to track down Tina鈥檚 friend Fatema Tahsin Oishee, another suspect in the murder, added the police officer.
On April 23, the court ordered the authorities to find the two women suspected of being involved in the murder case.
After 15 days, police arrested one of them.
Jahidul Islam Parvez, a student of the university鈥檚 textile department, was an activist of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
On April 19, he was stabbed to death during a clash with a group of fellow students and outsiders on its campus over allegations of harassing two female students of the University of Scholars.
The victim鈥檚 cousin, Humayun Kabir, filed a case accusing 38 people, including two leaders of Students Against Discrimination for their alleged involvement in the murder.
