The ‘Youth Festival and New Year-1432 Celebration’ programme was held on Eastern University campus in Dhaka on Sunday.

In a colourful atmosphere of Baishakh, the university premises turned into a festive gathering, where teachers, students, officials, employees and alumni participated, said a press release.


Acting vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Md Shamsul Huda, was present as chief guest while registrar Abul Bashar Khan delivered the welcome address.

Engineering and technology faculty dean Professor Md Mahfuzur Rahman highlighted the importance of cultural practices along with science and technology.

Organized by the Eastern University Cultural Club, the festival had various arrangements - Baisakhi fair, cultural programmes, flash mob, Nagardola, and different stalls.

The event was moderated by Professor Syed Habib Anwar Pasha, chairperson of the department of business administration, and Assistant Professor Abdullah Al-Fahad, coordinator of the Cultural Club. KM Monirul Islam, deputy director of student affairs and career services, was in charge of the overall planning.
