The two-day-long Green Energy Olympiad 2025 began in Dhaka on Saturday highlighting the role youths need to play to ensure sustainable and progressive development in Bangladesh.

‘Youths’ logic and innovation is essential for building a progressive and sustainable Bangladesh,’ said Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, Climate Change, and Water Resources, as she inaugurated the Olympiad at the military museum in the morning.


The Olympiad is jointly organised by Bangladesh Working Group on Ecology and Development and Coastal Livelihood and Environmental Action Network.

About 5,000 participants from schools and colleges across the country participated in the Olympiad in six phases. In the grand finale being held in Dhaka, 50 finalists are competing for three titles.

The inauguration programme was also attended by Power Division additional secretary Nur Ahemd, Center for Policy Dialogue research director Khandaker Golam Moazzem, City Bank chief economist Ashanur Rahman, BWGED executive member Monower Mostafa, and CLEAN member secretary Hasan Mehedi. Â
