Members of the Rapid Action Battalion during a drive have arrested five kidnappers and rescued the abducted man at Keraniganj in Dhaka.
The detained were Md Ramzan alias Ranju, 37, Md Miraj, 21, Md Mahim, 25, Md Borhan, 17, and Md Sagar, 15, said a RAB-10 press release issued on Wednesday.
According to the release, the victim, Md Mostakim Chowdhury, 26, was reportedly kidnapped by the gang shortly after he left his home at Khezurbagh in Keraniganj on Sunday.
Later on the same day, at around 8:00am, the abductors called the victim鈥檚 his wife from his mobile phone and demanded a ransom of Taka two lakh for his release.
Following a case filed by the victim鈥檚 wife with the South Keraniganj police station, the RAB personnel conducted the operation and arrested the five gang members.
A legal process is underway in this connection.
