
Four law enforcement officers were injured in a gunfight with the notorious Kala Lavlu terrorist group in Khulna in early hours of Sunday.
Among the injured were three policemen and a navy member, said Azam Khan, officer-in-charge of Sonadanga police station.
Besides, 4 members of the Kala Lavlu group were also wounded in the clash, he said.
Acting on a tip-off, Sonadanga police launched an operation in the Arambagh area around midnight, suspecting that members of the Kala Lavlu terrorist group were holding a secret meeting in a building near Arambagh mosque.
Upon the police鈥檚 arrival, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce gunfight.
Navy personnel soon joined the operation, and the exchange of gunfire continued until 3:30am.
In the clash, three policemen, one navy member, and four members of the Kala Lavlu group were injured. The injured law enforcement officers were taken to the police and navy hospitals, while the criminals were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
The joint forces also detained 11 members of the Kala Lavlu group, identified as Sheikh Palash, Kala Lavlu, Ariful, Fazle Rabbi, Sharif, Imranuzzaman, Ripon, Imran, Saikat Rahman, Sahidul Islam, and Golam Rabbani.
Authorities seized three pistols, a single-barrel shotgun, a sawn-off shotgun, a Chinese axe, several rounds of ammunition, and seven motorcycles during the operation.
