
The Bangladesh Army observed the 41st anniversary of the death of General Muhammad Ataul Gani Osmani, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the War of Independence in 1971, on Sunday with due respect.
General Officer Commanding of the 17 Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army and Sylhet area commander, Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman, laid a wreath on the grave of General MAG Osmani adjacent to the shrine of saint Hazrat Shahjalal (R) in Sylhet in the morning with due dignity and full military honours.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the army paid tribute to the valiant son of the soil through a guard of honor.
Later, a prayer session was also held seeking eternal peace of the soul of the liberation war鈥檚 commander-in-chief and well-being of the country and its people.
All senior army officers of the Sylhet Area, members of other ranks of the military, local dignitaries and media persons were present at the programme.
MAG Osmani was born on February 16, 1984, in Sylhet.
