
The High Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to 23 followers of Tabligh Jamaat鈥檚 faction Maulana Saad Kandhalvi over four murders following a fatal clash between two factions of Tabligh Jamaat on the Tongi Bishwa Ijtema ground on December 18, 2024.
The bench of Justice Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam and Md Hamidur Rahman passed the order after hearing two petitions鈥攐ne filed by Wasiful Islam and his 10 followers, and other was filed by another Saad follower Hazi Basir Sikder and his 11 followers鈥攕eeking bail.
The bench granted them bail until submission of investigation reports in the murder cases.
On December 19, 2024, SM Alam Hossain, a member of the Shura-e-Nezam and supporter of Saad鈥檚 rival Maulana Zubayer filed a murder case against 29 individuals, including Wasiful Islam, with the Tongi west police station over killings four devotees.
Saad鈥檚 supporters were accused of killing three Zubayer supporters in a fatal clash between two factions of Tablighi Jamaat on the Tongi Bishwa Ijtema ground over establishing control.
According to the first information report, the complainant alleged that the accused violated the decisions made during meetings at the Home Ministry on November 4 and 7, 2024.
