Two young woman and man died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital between Wednesday night and early Thursday after they were stabbed in two separate incidents.

The deceased were identified as Subarna Akhter Mim, 22, a resident of Aftabnagar in Dhaka city, and Mohamamd Kamrul Hasan, 23, a man from Noakhali.

Subarna was found in a critically injured condition on a road at Aftabnagar at about 1:00am on Thursday.

Family members alleged that her husband Sheikh Sohel stabbed her with a sharp knife on her back after a quarrel and fled the scene leaving her on the road.

‘We took her to a nearby hospital. When her condition worsened, she was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor declared her dead at about 4:00am,’ Subarna’s mother Shahana Begum said.

Subarna used to live in a flat in Aftabnagar with her husband and their only child, she added.

But recently she was living separately from her husband as she found out that he hid his first marriage and did not divorce his first wife before marrying her, family members said.

Kamrul, a 23-year-old hawker, was stabbed to death in Jatrabari in the city on Wednesday night.

His father Imam Hossain said that Kamrul left home at about 8:00pm on Wednesday saying that he was going to Cox’s Bazar with his friends.

But the family was informed through a phone call at about 9:30pm that Kamrul was injured and was being treated at Jatrabari Islamia Hospital with serious stabbing wounds.

Jatrabari police officer-in-charge Faruk Ahmed said that an investigation was going on to find the persons involved in the attack.

Victim’s father would file a case soon, he added.
