
The Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday filed a case against former education minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth nearly Tk 3 crore.
The commission also filed three cases against former Detective Branch of police chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, his wife Shirin Akter, and his brother ABM Shahriar over allegations of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 41 crore.
The four cases were filed with ACC鈥檚 integrated district office in Dhaka-1 accusing the former education minister and Harun-or-Rashid and his family members, said ACC director general Akter Hossain.
Of the cases, the ACC filed the case against Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth about Tk 3 crore beyond known sources of income.
Mohibul Hasan submitted his wealth statement to the ACC showing his assets worth Tk 5.44 crore.
After scrutinising wealth statement, the ACC found illegal wealth worth Tk 2.94 crore of the former minister.
According to the case statements, Harun Or Rashid is accused of acquiring illegal assets worth Tk 17.51 crore, his wife Shirin Akter Tk 10.76 crore, and his brother ABM Shahriar Tk 12.96 crore.
