Adviser to the primary and mass education ministry, Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder, on Sunday said that there would be a slight delay in printing the books due to changed circumstances, but the new books would reach the students by January 2025.
‘In the changed situation, there was some delay in preparing manuscripts. Some changes were needed in the books. The manuscripts have also been slightly revised. For this reason, there is a delay,’ the adviser said.
He, however, said that despite the delay, the primary students would get free books in January of the forthcoming year.
Bidhan Chandra came up with the comments while addressing a views-exchanging meeting as chief guest with the divisional officials at the Sylhet divisional commissioner’s office at noon.
Asked about the demand for providing the 10th grade to primary teachers, he said that primary assistant teachers were in the 13th grade and the head teachers had yet to get the 10th grade.
‘The demand of primary assistant teachers for the 10th grade is not realistic right now. But the claim is not unreasonable,’ he said.
‘Our first target is to ensure the 10th grade for primary head teachers. We are creating posts of assistant headmasters. Primary assistant teachers will be promoted to the post of assistant headmasters. Gradually they will be promoted to the 10th grade,’ the adviser said.
Additional divisional commissioner Devajit Singh chaired the meeting that was addressed, among others, by primary and mass education ministry’s additional secretary Md Sakhawat Hossain and additional director general Abu Noor Md Shamsuzzaman as the special guests.
