The finance division is compiling the wastage of funds in the name of Mujib Year celebration to mark the birth centenary of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
It is doing so by collecting data from almost all ministries and divisions since November 12, said the finance division officials.
Earlier, the finance division sought the data from them in a letter issued by the budget wing.
The compilation is on as some ministries and divisions are yet to send data, said the officials without naming those.
The officials also said that the finance ministry would submit the compilation report before the interim government’s advisory council soon.ÌýÌý
On November 8, the interim government’s advisory council, in a weekly meeting, decided to determine how much money was spent by every ministry for the purpose.
Chief adviser’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam, referring to a report of the daily Kaler Kantho, also said that the ousted Awami League government spent about Tk 4000 crore to make sculptures of Sheikh Mujib during the Mujib Year celebration.
