The Friends in Village Development Bangladesh, through its Prevention and Response of Child Protection Concerns through Timely Initiative with Child Engagement project, held a graduation ceremony in Rohingya Camp number 21 and 24 in Cox’s Bazar for adolescents boys and girls, who completed life-skills training.

This program, funded by Radiohjälpen with technical assistance from Plan International Bangladesh, equips youth to address child protection concerns in their communities, said a press release on Tuesday.

The PRACTICE project provides life-skills sessions to 4,500 adolescents – 2,250 girls and 2,250 boys – across Camps number 21 and 24, using the contextualized Champions of Change module.

Adolescents in 250 groups – 125 girls and 125 boys per group – participated in sessions on gender equality, child marriage, child labour, gender-based violence, self-protection, coping mechanisms, and sexual and reproductive health rights, the release said.

Each girls’ group attended 20 sessions, and boys completed 19 sessions over four and a half months, focusing on empowering youth to advocate for positive change, it said.

Md Khorshed Alam Chowdhury, a senior assistant secretary of Bangladesh government and CIC of Camp 24, inaugurated the ceremony.

FIVDB’s executive director, Bazle Mustafa Razee, praised over the graduates for their commitment and encouraged them to lead change within their communities.

Tokens of appreciation were awarded to recognise their achievements, the release said.
