
Bangladesh University Grants Commission will organise a four-month basic training to increase the capacity of the new teachers of the university, said a press release on Friday.
The training will be provided continuously under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation scheme implemented by the UGC.
In this regard, the UGC has developed a comprehensive training module, and to further review the module, the commission also held a workshop on Thursday.
The UGC chairman Professor SMA Faiz was present as chief guest at the workshop, where the commission鈥檚 members Professor Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan and Professor M Anwar Hossen spoke as special guest.
The draft module includes a total of 10 topics, including higher education regulation, OBE curriculum, teaching-learning and assessment, research skills, and communication and advanced digital literacy.
In the meeting, Dhaka University education and research institute professors SM Hafizur Rahman and Ahsan Habib and Bangladesh Agricultural University GTI director Professor Bentul Mawa gave opinions on the teacher training module.
The UGC secretary Fakhrul Islam presented the concept paper on module at the meeting.
Presided over by director of the UGC SPQA department Durga Rani Sarkar, director of planning and development department Mohammad Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan and director of the HIT project Professor Asaduzzaman spoke on the occasion.
Deputy director of the SPQA department Mohammad Monir Ullah moderated the workshop, which was attended by officers of the UGC and World Bank, added the press release.
