An eight-year-old boy was killed after being run over by a truck in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Tahmid Sarkar, son of Shamim Sarkar of village Mahadipur of Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur.
Mamunur Rashid, sub-inspector of Birampur Police Station, said Tahmid had recently arrived at his grandfather鈥檚 house in Birampur with his mother following the demise of his grandfather a few days ago.
After waking up on Thursday morning, Tahmid could not find his mother and went out to look for her. At that time, a dog chased him. In panic, he started running and was run over by a truck in College Bazar area of Birampur.
The truck involved in the accident has been seized, said the SI.
鈥楲egal procedures are underway, and efforts are being made to hand over Tahmid鈥檚 body following due process,鈥� he added.
