A symposium titled ‘Mapping Public Health for Global Health Security: Surveillance System, Public Health Laboratories, and Policy Documentation’ was held at the Conference Hall at the DGHS Bhaban in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Thursday, said a press release.
The event was attended by Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, additional director general (planning and development), Directorate General of Health Services.
Dr Mir Mobarak Hossain, deputy director (planning and research) of DGHS delivered the welcoming address.
The meeting provided an overview of the mapping of surveillance systems, public health laboratory mapping, and public health policy documentation activities funded by the US CDC and implemented by jhpiego Bangladesh, Safetynet and Association of Public Health Laboratories in collaboration with DGHS, the release said.
The Speech session on the topic was presented by Dr Neely Kaydos-Daniels, country director, US CDC on Global Health Security while Dr Samiha Yunus, team lead - Surveillance, Jhpiego Bangladesh presented on Surveillance and laboratory mapping.
Dr Syed Hassan Md Abdullah, country lead, Safetynet, made presentation on Surveillance and laboratory policy documentation.
The Global surveillance activities of Jhpiego were presented by Dr Setara Rahman, country lead, Jhpiego Bangladesh.
The open forum was adeptly steered by Dr Manoshi Saha Tuli, medical officer, planning and research, DGHS, and all the participants had participated on the discussion.
Professor Dr Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general (administration), DGHS, shared his word of wisdom with the attendees as the special guest.
The symposium reached its conclusion with the concluding remarks by the chief guest, Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, additional director general (planning and development), DGHS.
