The interim government of Bangladesh has withdrawn 102 officers of the 37th BCS batch who were serving as assistant commissioners (land) in different regions.

The Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday issued separate notifications assigning them to different divisional commissioners’ offices for posting as senior assistant commissioners or assistant commissioners.

An official from the Ministry of Public Administration said that a decision had been made to gradually withdraw the 37th BCS officers from their roles as AC land.

The official also said the ministry had begun reorganising the field administration ahead of the national parliamentary elections. This reshuffle is a part of that process.

During the national election, deputy commissioners serve as returning officers in their respective districts, while upazila nirbahi officers and other BCS cadre officials, including assistant commissioners (land), serve as assistant returning officers.
