Speakers, including a lawmaker and entrepreneurs, on Saturday said that women had to fight against masculinity and money to prove their capabilities.

They said that if women got opportunities, they could contribute to the country’s economy as well.

The observations were made at the concluding ceremony of the two-day workshop titled ‘Pashe Achhi’, organised by Power of She for entrepreneurs of small and medium enterprises at Riddhi Gallery in Dhaka.

‘Women have to fight against man, money and muscle. They have to prove themselves that they can,’ said the ruling Awami League lawmaker for reserve seat and also former state minister Tarana Halim.

She said that men became obstacles for women in many ways, like husband and colleagues, while women themselves also became obstacles in some extends.

Addressing the event, Power of She project chief Sabina Sabi said that they wanted to work for the women empowerment. Skill development and proper directives were needed for that.

‘Our main target is to make women financially independent. If women of our country get chance, they can also contribute to the economy,’ Sabina added.
