At least five people were killed and eight others injured in road accidents in Dhaka city, Tangail and Sylhet between Thursday night and Friday.

抖阴精品 correspondent in Tangail reported that one person was killed and four others were injured after a CNG run auto-rikshaw collided with a covered van on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Konabari on Friday.


The deceased was Saimun Islam, 37, a resident of Kanuhari village in Netrakona,

The covered-van driver Shaon, 21, of Sohagdal village in Pirojpur, was detained with the vehicle.

Konabari police station sub-inspector Sohag Chowdhury said that the CNG hit the covered-van from behind after losing its control. The covered-van was parked beside the highway during the incident.

In another incident, an unidentified vehicle hit a woman while she was crossing the road in Padma Bridge Railing Project in Ghumti Ghar area under Gendaria police station around 3:00am on Friday, the United News of Bangladesh reported.

She was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital emergency department where she was declared dead, said the DMCH鈥檚 police outpost in-charge Md Bachhu Mia.

抖阴精品 correspondent in Sylhet reported that at least three people were killed and four others injured in two separate road accidents in Sylhet on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Kasid Ali, 62, of Jainpur in Sylhet city, Harunur Rashid, 40, of Lubiagram at Chhatak upazila in Sunamganj, and Partha Saha, 24, of Bipasha village at Kalmakanda upazila in Netrakona.

Local residents said that a Sylhet-bound stone-loaded speeding truck collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Sylhet-Bholaganj highway at Gowrinagar area under Companiganj upazila in the district at around 8:30 pm, leaving six auto-rickshaw passengers, including its driver, critically injured.

Companiganj police station officer-in-charge Golam Dastagir Ahmad said that on-duty doctors of Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital declared Harun and Partha dead on their arrival at the hospital while the four injured were admitted to the hospital.

He said that the truck and auto-rickshaw were seized from the spot but the truck driver and his assistant managed to flee.

In another incident, a speedy Laguna human hauler hit an elderly man named Kasid Ali at Jainpur of Dakshin Surma area in the city at around 10:00pm.

The Moglabazar police station officer-in-charge Mosharraf Hossain said that he died on his way to the SOMCH.

The Laguna was seized but its driver managed to flee the scene, he added.
