The 53rd martyrdom anniversary of five members of the family of Saidur Rahman, founder president of Projonmo ’71, was observed on Monday.

On the occasion, Saidur’s family organised doa-mahfil and Qur’an khwani in the Dhaka’s Basundhara residential area in the afternoon.

Saidur Rahman is a senior news presenter of Channel i and the deceased are his father, mother and three elder brothers, said a press release.

His father shaheed engineer Fazlur Rahman, mother Shaheed Hosne Akter, an non-government organisation trainer and brothers - Shaheed Mostafizur Rahman, a college student, and Shaheed Hasinur Rahman, Shaheed Azizur Rahman, both high school students, were brutally killed at the railway government residence in Saidpur of Nilphamari, jointly by the Pakistani occupation forces and its collaborators ‘Biharies’ on the day during the war of independence of Bangladesh in 1971, the press release added.

Saidur’s mother was buried alive after charging bayonet by the dreadful killers.

Later, the Biharies manipulated the three wounded brothers recovering at a hospital, taking them behind the hospital and having them slaughtered in a dug hole, the release said.

From this killing action, Saidur along with his elder sister Dilruba khatun and younger sister late Camellia Rahman escaped narrowly.

Saidur requested to all the independent lovers of the country to keep his parents and brothers along with 3 million martyred in prayer for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
