Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, dean of the BSRM school of engineering and director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, has been appointed as pro-vice-chancellor of BRAC University, effective from October 20.
Serving as dean since 2019 and IQAC director since 2022, Professor Chowdhury has over two decades of academic, research and leadership experience in higher education in Bangladesh and abroad, said a press release on Saturday.
He previously held several key academic and administrative positions at North South University and contributed extensively to international research collaborations.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science and engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and a PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, United States.
He is a co-inventor of 15 US patents and has published more than 95 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers.
He is also an active reviewer of IEEE Photonic Technology Letters, Journal of Lightwave Technology, and OSA Journal of Optical Communications and Networking.
