
United International University organised a discussion to commemorate the July uprising at the UIU in Dhaka on Saturday.
The UIU held the programme in memory of Irfan Bhuiyan, a student of UIU, and all the martyrs in July uprising of 2024, said a press release.
Presided over by Professor ASM Salahuddin, acting vice-chancellor of the UIU, Md Zulfiqur Rahman, registrar of UIU, delivered welcome address at the programme.
Among others, Professor Salma Karim, director of BBA programme; and Suman Ahmed, head of the CSE department, UIU, spoke at the programme.
Aminul Islam Bhuiyan, father of Irfan Bhuiyan, delivered a speech on behalf of the martyred family in the July 2024 uprising.
Speakers highlighted the significance of the July uprising as a watershed moment in Bangladesh’s fight for justice and democracy.
They called on future generations to continue defending people’s rights and democratic ideals.
A video documentary commemorating the uprising was screened at the programme.
After the discussion, a prayer session was held to pray for the souls of the martyrs of the 2024 mass uprising.
The faculty members, officials, students, guardians and other d guests were present at the programme.
