Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, in collaboration with Mastercard, inaugurated a fully cashless university campus under the Bangladesh Bank’s ‘Cashless Bangladesh’ initiative, enabling teachers, students and visitors to conduct cashless transactions at Chattogram University.Â
The event took place recently at the Institute of Marine Sciences and Fisheries at Chattogram University, said a press release dated October 23.Â
Through this initiative, Islami Bank will set up Bangla QR at cafeterias, bookstores, administrative offices, train station of Chattogram University.
An exclusive debit card for students was launched through the ceremony, offering them a charge-free, convenient and secure way to manage their daily financial needs.
Chattogram University vice-chancellor Muhammad Yeahia Akther attended the event as chief guest.
Rafeza Akter Kanta, director of Payment Systems Department of the Bangladesh Bank, presided over the event.Â
Md Mokbul Hossain, executive director of the Bangladesh Bank, Md Altaf Hossain, additional managing director of Islami Bank, Mohammed Shamim Uddin Khan, pro-vice chancellor (academic) of Chattogram University and Md Arifuzzaman, director of the Bangladesh Bank, attended the ceremony as special guests.
Jubaer Hossen, head of retail and commerce of Mastercard, along with executives and officials of the Bangladesh Bank, university professors, employees and students, as well as senior officials of Islami Bank and Mastercard, among others, attended the event.
