
Janata Bank PLC has started Foreign Remittance Service Month on Wednesday, July 16, in commemoration of the July Uprising.
Under this facility, expatriates residing in the United Arab Emirates, can send a maximum of 1,500 dirhams to the country free of charge through Janata Bank.
Bangladesh Bank governor Ahsan H Mansur inaugurated the Virtual Remittance Service Month activities.
Janata Bank chairman M Fazlur Rahman, managing director Md Mujibur Rahman, deputy managing directors Golam Mortuza, Md Nazrul Islam and Ashraful Alam and senior executives and officials including the general managers of the head office were present at the event.
Governor Ahsan H Mansur urged the banks of Bangladesh to launch this facility so that expatriates can send remittances through mobile apps.
He recalled that expatriates played an important role in the July Uprising. He also called for special facilities for sending remittances.
