In a bid to advance the SME and Microfinance sectors in Bangladesh, City Bank has appointed two of its senior leaders, Md Nurul Azam Mozumder and Kamrul Mehedi, as deputy managing directors (DMDs) of the bank. This move reinforces the bank鈥檚 dedication to inclusive and sustainable economic growth, which is aligned with the national development agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), says a press release.
Md Nurul Azam Mozumder, previously serving as senior executive vice-president and head of medium business, has played a pivotal role in expanding City Bank鈥檚 footprint in the medium business segment. A mathematics and business studies graduate from the University of Dhaka, Mozumder began his banking career with City Bank in 1999 as a management trainee. Over the past 25 years, he has held numerous leadership roles, including business development manager, cluster head of branches, and head of branch banking. Since 2018, as head of medium business, his leadership has significantly contributed to the bank鈥檚 success in this key segment.
Kamrul Mehedi, also promoted from the position of senior executive vice-president, has been leading City Bank鈥檚 Small & Microfinance Business since 2017. Under his leadership, the bank launched several pioneering financial products for CMSME customers and deepened its presence in agricultural, women, and sustainable financing. Mehedi brings a unique blend of experience, having started his career at BRAC Bank and served in the Bangladesh Army. He holds a graduate degree in Banking Leadership from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which has significantly shaped his approach to inclusive finance in the SME sector.
The appointment of Mozumder and Mehedi as DMDs reflects City Bank鈥檚 continued commitment to nurturing leadership that drives inclusive growth and SME sector鈥檚 development across Bangladesh.
