The interim government on Thursday decided to scarp contractual appointment of managing directors of six state-owned commercial banks.

The managing directors聽 are Afzal Karim of Sonali Bank, Abdul Jabber of Janata Bank, Md Murshedul Kabir of Agrani Bank, Mohammad Jahangir of Rupali Bank, Anisur Rahman of BASIC Bank and Habibur Rahman Gazi of Bangladesh Development Bank Limited.

Financial Institutions Division officials said that they sent letters to the executive board of the six banks asking them to cancel the contractual appointments.

The six were appointed on contracts by the deposed Awami League regime ousted on August 5 amid a student-people uprising.

New managing directors will be appointed soon, said the FID officials.
