Atlas Bangladesh Limited, a state-owned enterprise of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation under the Ministry of Industries, launched its eco-friendly electric motorcycle brand, Atlas EV, on Wednesday.
The marketing launch ceremony for the ‘Atlas EV’ brand was attended by industries and housing and public works adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, industries ministry secretary Md Obaidur Rahman and BSEC chairman Md Anwarul Alam and directors, officials, employees, workers from BSEC and ABL along with dealers, said a press release.
These motorcycles are being introduced as part of the successful implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed in May with the Chinese ‘Original Equipment Manufacturer’, Zhejiang Luyuan Electric Vehicle Company Limited.
The Atlas EV brand fulfills ABL’s long-standing ambition to establish its own brand.
Adilur Rahman Khan said, ‘The current government is fully committed to promoting green mobility and achieving our sustainable development goals. This initiative by a trusted state-owned entity like Atlas Bangladesh Limited is a significant step in implementing the national policy on electric vehicles.’
He added, ‘It will not only reduce our carbon emissions and save valuable foreign currency spent on fossil fuels but will also bring advanced, eco-friendly transportation to the people’s doorstep.’
Obaidur Rahman stated, ‘This initiative is fully aligned with our industrial policy of encouraging high-tech manufacturing within the country. We are building a strong ecosystem for electric vehicles, and Atlas Bangladesh’s leadership in this sector will inspire further innovation and investment.’
Anwarul Alam remarked on the initiative, ‘The global demand for electric vehicles is continually rising as they are eco-friendly and fuel-efficient. Atlas Bangladesh Limited’s initiative is extremely timely. I hope ABL will be able to play a significant role in developing our domestic industry by producing high-quality electric motorcycles under its own brand.’
