
A recent survey released on Wednesday showed that 41.3 per cent of voters intend to vote for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, 30.3 per cent for the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and 18.8 per cent for the Awami League in the next general election.
Besides, 4.1 per cent of voters intend to vote for the National Citizen Party, 3.1 per cent for the Islami Andolan Bangladesh and 0.90 per cent for the Jatiya Party, the survey report said.
Research firm ‘Innovision’, in collaboration with policy think tank ‘Voice for Reform’ and a research think tank ‘BRAIN’, onducted the study in September 2-15 in the country’s eight divisions with a sample of 10,413 voting-aged population.
Innovision managing director Md Rubaiyath Sarwar presented the survey report titled ‘2nd part of ‘People’s Pulse Survey’ at the National Achieve Auditorium in the capital’s Agargaon area.
In response to a question about which party will form the next government, 39.1 per cent of respondents favoured the BNP, 28.1 per cent Jamaat, 17.7 per cent the AL, 4.9 per cent the NCP, and 10.2 per cent other parties.
The rate of indecision over casting their ballots was increased as 57.8 per cent intended to vote in the 2nd part of the survey, though the percentage in the previous survey conducted in March was 62.
The survey found that voters were almost evenly divided over the participation of AL in the next national election, as 45.79 per cent of respondents believed that all parties should have the opportunity to participate in the election, while 45.58 per cent viewed that AL should not be allowed to participate in the election before a trial.
