A group of activists from the banned Chhatra League, the student wing of the Awami League, allegedly brought out a flash procession in the Pathantuli area of Chattogram’s Double Mooring police station on Saturday morning, the police said.
Members of the law enforcement agencies are working to identify those who took part in the procession, the police added.Ìý
The procession began at around 7:30am near Nazirpol Midpoint Hospital on the Pathantuli Road and marched towards the Kadamtali area in the city.Ìý
Later in the afternoon, a 52-second video of the procession was uploaded on the official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Awami League.
The caption read, ‘A march has been organised by Double Mooring Thana Chhatra League on the Pathantuli Road in Chattogram against illegal Yunus.’
Following the circulation of the video, police rushed to the scene, said Double Mooring police station officer-in-charge Kazi Rafiqul Islam.Ìý
The video shows that 10 to 15 youth are chanting slogans in the name of Awami League.
The march, lasting about a minute, was allegedly led by Double Mooring Thana Chhatra League general secretary Rakib Haider.Ìý
‘We noticed a group of 10 to 15 individuals chanting slogans in the morning. We have obtained CCTV footage from Pathantuli and are investigating the matter,’ the OC said.
