Bangladesh Nationalist Party central executive committee member and former lawmaker Nadim Mostafa died on Sunday.

He was 58.

Nadim Mostafa, former president of Rajshahi district BNP, was survived by his wife, daughter and son.

Nadim Mostafa breathed his last at about 12:10pm while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital, said Golam Mostafa Mamun, a member of Rajshahi district BNP.

He said that Nadim fell sick at home in the morning and was taken to United Hospital.

Nadim, former general secretary of Rajshahi metropolitan BNP, was elected as a lawmaker twice for Rajshahi-4 constituency comprising Puthia and Durgapur in the seventh and eighth national election in 1996 and 2001.

BNP chairperson’s adviser Mizanur Rahman Minu, meanwhile, alleged that Nadim Mostafa had been suffering from various health complications including heart disease, following inhumane torture during remand in custody.

He said that the first namaz-e-janaza of Nadim was scheduled to be held at his native village at Puthia after Isha prayers on Sunday.

‘The second namaz-e-janaza will be held at Shah Makhdum Eidgah Maidan in Rajshahi city on Monday morning,’ he added.
