
Renowned photographer Chanchal Mahmood died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka on Friday. He was 68.
Photographer and researcher Shahadat Parvez said that Chanchal Mahmood died at about 9:30pm at Labaid Hospital in the capital’s Dhanmondi.
‘The Namaz-e-Janaza of Chanchal Mahmood will be held on Saturday morning and he will be buried at the Banani Graveyard in the city after the Zuhr prayers,’ said Shahadat.
Chanchal is survived by his widow Raina Mahmood and his daughter from his first marriage.
His body would be kept at Dhaka University Mosque after 12:00noon on Saturday.
Chanchal is often considered a trendsetter of model and fashion photography in Bangladesh, who had a successful career spanning more than four decades.
He also established ‘Chanchal Mahmood Photography’ an institution for fashion photographers in Bangladesh.
