
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is scheduled to run its two postponed flights on the Dhaka-Kathmandu route today.
According to the airline officials, besides the two flights, its regular flight on the route would be operated as usual on Thursday.
Earlier, Biman postponed flight operations on the Dhaka-Kathmandu route till 6:00pm on Wednesday due to the prevailing security situation in Nepal.
Biman, in a press release on Tuesday, postponed flights on the route till 2:00pm on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Biman extended the duration till 6:00pm, according to Biman’s customer care executive Sharmin Sultana.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines public relations general manager ABM Raoshan Kabir said that the postponed flights of September 9 and 10 would be operated on Thursday, but they were yet to get the time slot.
Biman’s customer care executives, however, confirmed that the two postponed flights would be operated as a single flight at 10:00am on Thursday.
A Biman Bangladesh flight, BG 371, with 116 passengers, was not allowed to land in Kathmandu on Tuesday due to ‘unfavourable conditions’ at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport.
The flight returned to Dhaka.
Another flight, BG 372 on the Kathmandu-Dhaka route, was also cancelled.
On Tuesday evening, the chief adviser’s press wing in a press release said that those seeking updates or information regarding the Kathmandu–Dhaka route were requested to reach out to the following representatives of Biman, country manager, Kathmandu office (+977 9851037510), station manager (+977 9851026159) and sales department (+977 9847918402).
It also read, ‘Approximately 100 Bangladesh nationals, including government officials and football players on official visits, are currently stranded in Kathmandu.’
The number of Bangladeshi tourists visiting Nepal independently or for private purposes has not yet been confirmed.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy, its hotlines have received over 350 inquiries from Bangladeshi citizens stuck in Nepal.
Most of the callers are seeking information about Biman flight schedules, delays, and rescheduling.
It is estimated that around 500 Bangladeshi passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines are currently in Nepal, as per the release.
