Two people were killed and several others injured in a road accident in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur early Friday.

Habibur Rahman, sub-inspector of Bhanga Police Station, said the accident took place around 2:30am near Tarail Bus Stand on the Dhaka–Khulna Highway when a Jamuna Line bus, heading to Satkhira from Dhaka, collided with an unidentified truck, severely damaging the bus’s front side.

As some passengers got off and stood in front of the vehicle, a goods-laden truck rammed into the bus from behind, killing a man aged about 35 on the spot and injuring 10–12 others, the SI said.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex, where Farzana (30) of Bera upazila in Pabna succumbed to her injuries. Her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Jannatul, was critically injured and later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Shibchar Highway Police later seized the bus and the truck involved in the accident, Rahman added.
