At least 13 people were killed and 21 others injured in road accidents in Jashore, Sunamganj, Faridpur, Bagerhat, Narsingdi, Chattogram and Gaibandha between Thursday night and Friday.

¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· Jashore correspondent reported that two teenagers were killed when their motorcycle collided with a sand-laden trolley on Jhikargachha–Chaugachha Road at Jahangirpur on Friday.  


The deceased, Imon Hossain, 15, son of Intaz Hossain, and Ashraful Islam, 15, son of Torikul Islam, were residents of Bashapol Kaliakundu village.

Chaugachha police officer-in-charge Anwar Hossain said that the bodies were sent to the upazila health complex.

¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· Sylhet correspondent reported that a woman and her daughter were killed and 10 other passengers were injured at Shantiganj in Sunamganj early Friday.

The deceased are Manzura Akter, 37, wife of Abdullah Al Mamun of Doalia village in Chandpur, and her daughter Ayesha Siddika, 10.

Joykalas highway police OC Suman Kumar Chowdhury said that 11 Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation officers with their families were coming from Dhaka to visit Tanguar Haor in Sunamganj.

The bus plunged into the roadside ditch as its driver lost his control on the steering when the bus reached the entrance of the road to Inatnagar at Shantiganj at around 5:30am, he said. 

United News of Bangladesh reported that two people were killed and at least 11 others injured in a road accident at Bhanga in Faridpur early Friday.

Bhanga police station sub-inspector Habibur Rahman said that the accident occurred around 2:30am near Tarail Bus Stand on the Dhaka–Khulna Highway, when a Jamuna Line bus from Dhaka collided with an unidentified truck.

Some passengers then got off and stood in front of the bus, he added, mentioning, ‘After a while, a goods-laden truck hit the bus from behind, killing a man aged around 35 on the spot.’

The injured were sent to Bhanga upazila health complex, where Farzana, 30, from Pabna’s Bera upazila, died from her injuries.

Her critically injured one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Jannatul was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

UNB also reported that two people, including a woman, were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a tractor on the Gobindaganj–Nakaihat road in Gaibandha on in the evening.

The deceased woman is Lipa Begum, 28, wife of police constable Sumon Mia of Chotrogacha village.

The identity of the other victim could not be confirmed immediately.

Gobindaganj police station OC Bulbul Islam said that they visited the spot.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that a man was killed after a bus hit him in front of the regional passport office on the Khulna–Bagerhat Highway in Bagerhat early Friday. 

The deceased is Md Shamim Talukder, 30, resident of Kadamtala village under Sarankhola.

Bagerhat model police station OC Md Mahmud-ul Hasan said that they seized the bus, but its driver and his assistants fled the scene. 

The BSS reported that eight-year-old Fahim was killed after being hit by a covered van at Puichhari under Banskhali in Chattogram on Friday. Police later seized the vehicle.

The BSS reported that three people were killed when a passenger bus hit an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway at Rainadi in Narsingdi Thursday night.

Itakhola highway police OC Monir Hossain said that the accident occurred at around 11:30pm.

The deceased, Siam Mia, 22; Sabbir Hossain, 28, and auto-rickshaw driver Fahim Mia, 30, were residents of Rainadi village.
