
Politicians, academics, professionals and people from all walks of life on Monday paid their last respects to politician and author Badruddin Umar at Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.
Badruddin, the president of the Jatiya Mukti Council, died in Dhaka on Sunday at the age of 93.
His body was kept at Central Shaheed Minar for two hours from 10:00am when leaders of different political parties and organisations and his admirers paid their last respects to the veteran politician by placing wreaths on his body.
Interim government鈥檚 advisers Farida Akhter, Asif Nazrul, CR Abrar, Sharmin Murshid, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Adilur Rahman paid their last respect to Badruddin Umar at Central Shaheed Minar.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders and activist led by its joint secretary general Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, Left Democratic Alliance, Communist Party of Bangladesh leaders led by its general secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, Ganosamhati Anolan leaders led by its chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, Jatiya Mukti Council leaders led by its secretary Faiezul Hakim, National Citizen Party leaders led by its convener Nahid Islam,聽 Socialist Party of Bangladesh, SPB (Marxist), Revolutionary Workers Party leaders led by its general secretary Saiful Huq, Democratic Revolutionary Party leaders led by Mushrefa Mishu, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasod, Bangladesh Jasod, Revolutionary Communist League, Jatiya Gonofront and several other political parties paid their last respect to Badruddin Umar there.
Different educational, cultural and professional organisations including Dhaka University,聽 Bangladesh Lekhak Shibir, Bangla Academy, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, and Shikhak Network also paid their last respect to the politician at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Dhaka University professor emeritus Serajul Islam Choudhury led a delegation to place wreaths on the body of Badruddin.
Former Jahangirnagar University professor Anu Muhammad and 抖阴精品 editor Nurul Kabir also paid their last respects to Badruddin.
The body was then taken to the central mosque of Dhaka University where his namaj-e-janaza was held.
His body was later taken to Jurain graveyard where he was buried beside the gave of his parents in the afternoon.
